Power and nature
“Touch grass” makes sense
I’ve never thought that nature scared powerful people. Not until recently, when i learned the truth…or better say a piece of it…
Believe me when i say it: They are so afraid of it they want to destroy it the moment they lay eyes upon it.
I want to be honest, i haven’t spoken on my substack about nature, though indeed i appreciate every substacker that dedicates their time to the environmental issues! High respect for all of you whom i know or don’t know!
Depression is on the rise because we are simple people living in an artificial world that is made to sent humans to the sky and never keep them grounded to land. We live under a mantle of light that hides the stars, breathing dust more than oxygen, being overwhelmed by the noise all around. Wherever we look, we only see the grey and white of the tasteless buildings. Humans are meant to live in nature, in a world pf colours…
But what is interesting is that: How come the powerful dont mind ruining nature? Is it due to their ambition to occupy more land so to increase their income? Or is it to abuse their power…
I have learned that powerful people live in a world of illusions built by lies. They become so consumed by these twisted tales that they dont even know if they are human or not. Their existence is so questionable to them, yet they breathe and live with such amount of power: They must be the chosen one…they must be special. They are sent to fix the world…
They see themselves as creators: They attribute themselves as Gods. “I will save the world”, “I will make my country powerful”, “I will save my people”, “I will change the system”. “I, I, I!!!!”. Only them. Only they have a vision. Only they know what is better for the world. The people…just numbers to support their dreams. No voice, as if the world doesnt belong to them, to us all. For nothing belongs to the powerless, not even their life, not even their ideas. Not even their thoughts…
And then nature comes. But what could possibly make the rich so disgusted by it? It is the way nature doesnt bend to the illusions of the powerful. It is a rebel in a world that doesnt even exist. It is the truth that lives without compromising its values. Nature stands on the way of illusions.
If the powerful actually touched grass, if they stayed for a minute in the forest and listened to it, they wouldn’t like its rawness. They would only see it as something to fix, for it is too wild, too real for their fictional world. They would only see it as a blank canvas where they would paint their vision. But, they first need to empty the land from whatever nature has grown before they build what they wish. And, since they see themselves as the chosen one, they dont see nothing or anyone on the way.
Their human connections to nature are all gone, for their humanity is buried in the piles of the tales they tell themselves. And when they look at nature, they only think of one thing only: “How do i turn this into concrete?”.
Their foot cannot touch the truth, so they choose an artificial armour to protect them.
How ironic it is that the only time they will face the depth of nature is in death…
It is interesting that the civilisations that have had more connection to nature have been the most peaceful of all. Because they were grounded. They didn’t think themselves as more than humans. There was no ladder to climb to the skies.
The powerful hide themselves in high castles and bunkers, thinking of power and the games of conquest. This is the circus of lies. Nature is the truest thing that we humans will ever see. Nobody is that courageous to face the truth and live with it. And the powerful see nature as if a rebel on their way to destroy their tale.
I am keeping this short for it feels so complex that even what i have written feels so vague. I am quite messy with my thoughts, but perhaps i will come back to find a better way to tell them. Until then, remember my message: Protect nature and perhaps not every day, but every week go to the park, to the forest, by the sea. Swim in the lake, eat in the top of the mountain. Visit another country and appreciate their natural beauties. Look around your country and visit your natural beauty.
Protect nature, honour it with your presence and respect. It is the simplest, yet strongest act of rebellion against the injustices you feel so weak to fix…And remember: Touch grass. The powerful dont want you to do that.
